Manage Comments on your Blog

You can interact with your blog readers by allowing them to leave comments on your blog entries. With Angelfire Blog Builder you have three comment options.

  • OPEN
Anyone can post a comment on your blog. You can delete the comments later if you wish, and you can also choose to receive an email every time someone posts a comment to your blog. By default, your comments will be open when you first create your blog.
  • MODERATED
When someone leaves a comment on your blog it goes into draft mode. You can review it and choose to either delete it or make it public.
  • CLOSED
Readers cannot leave comments on your blog.

How to delete comments

  • Find the comment you want to delete and select Delete this comment.
  • Click Execute Changes and the comment will disappear.
  • When you're done, click the link that says Return to Control Panel.

  • Check the box to automatically receive an e-mail whenever someone posts a comment. Enter a valid e-mail address into the space provided.
  • Click Save and Create at the bottom of the page to save your settings.

How to moderate comments
If you have comments to moderate, you will see a notification in the Blog Manager, beneath the Message Center.

  • From the Blog Manager, click on the Moderate Comments button.
  • Find the comment you want to moderate and make a selection.
  • Click Execute Changes and the comment will disappear.
  • When you're done, click the link that says Return to Control Panel.

  • From the Blog Manager, click on the Blog Settings button.
  • Scroll down the page until you see Comment Preferences.
  • Click the Closed button to close comments on your blog.
  • Click Save and Create at the bottom of the page to save your settings.

How to set HTML filters
HTML is the programming language used to make websites. You can choose to allow any HTML or JavaScript, basic HTML and images, only basic HTML, or no HTML or JavaScript in your blog comments.

Allowing more HTML will give your readers more control over how their comments look. Allowing less HTML will prevent anyone from potentially altering the appearance of your blog comment page with their code. Remember, you can always go in and delete a problematic comment.

  • From the Blog Manager, click on the Blog Settings button.
  • Scroll down the page until you see Comment Preferences.
  • Click the button next to the HTML filter that you want.
  • Click Save and Create at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
